The Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring the company's financial health. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have experience in inventory and asset management, including heavy asset control, property taxes, and capitalization. - Financial Management: Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, monitor, and manage budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial stability and effective allocation of resources.
- Cost Control: Analyze project costs and implement measures to maximize profitability and efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax requirements.
- Internal Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate with external auditors and manage the preparation and execution of audits.
- Financial Strategy: Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and projections.
- Inventory and Asset Management: Manage and monitor inventory, heavy assets, and equipment, including tracking and reporting on asset utilization.
- Property Tax and Capitalization: Handle property tax compliance, capitalization of assets, and financial treatment of capital expenditures.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a Controller or senior financial management role, preferably in the construction industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of construction industry financial practices, job costing, WIP (Work in Progress) reporting, inventory management, and heavy asset control.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop a team, as well as work collaboratively with other departments.
