Position Overview & Purpose:
The Controller will plan and direct all the accounting operations functions and will oversee the month-end and year-end accounting close processes and create and maintain accurate and high-quality financial statements with responsibility for creating, developing, and maintaining a wide range of critical financial reports and analysis for use by regional management, senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and the Banking Group.

The Controller will plan and direct all the accounting operations functions and will oversee the month-end and year-end accounting close processes and create and maintain accurate and high-quality financial statements with responsibility for creating, developing, and maintaining a wide range of critical financial reports and analysis for use by regional management, senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and the Banking Group.
Responsibilities:
- Leads a team of five accounting team members, with an Accounting Manager, two Billing analysts, and two A/P analysts.
- Manages the month-end close process and checklist by setting target dates, preparing, and reviewing workpapers, answering questions and solving problems that arise, so that we can close the books each month in a timely manner.
- Reviews the general ledger, balance sheet, and income statement, and scrubs the statements prior to closing the month.
- Prepares the monthly income statement variance analysis with comments and analysis
- Leads the charge with preparing the monthly financial statement package that is provided to the Board of Directors, and the quarterly package provided to our Banking Group.
- Maintains and publishes regional income statements and dashboards and drives the monthly review meetings with regional operations directors.
- Creates, maintains, and publishes various reports and presentations to senior management, sales, and operations.
- Assists in preparing the slide deck for our quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
- Works effectively with all levels of the organization to become an internal expert on our organization’s cost, revenue, and operational drivers.
- Maintains and enforces current accounting policies and processes, as well as optimizes them as a need arises; suggest and create new processes when necessary.
- Embraces continuous improvement mindset and develops innovative processes, procedures and/or tools to support analysis and reporting of business performance.
- Assists with the annual and interim external financial audits by preparing PBC items and reports, answering auditor questions, and managing the audit process.
- Support other Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Sales, and Operations projects as time permits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- MBA or Master’s in a related business required
- CPA certification a plus
- Minimum 10+ years of accounting close, preparing or auditing GAAP-compliant financial statements, preparing management reports, financial analysis, and cost accounting
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting
- Experienced leader who can continue building, developing, and mentoring team members
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with NetSuite a plus
- Proficient in financial story telling
- Proven ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
