About the Job
Boyer Ritter is assisting us in our pursuit of a Controller based in the Hagerstown, MD, area. In this role, the Controller will oversee the financial aspects of an auto dealership and monitor internal compliance.
The ideal candidate will seek advancement opportunities, as the overall strategic plan for this position is to develop into a more leadership-based role.
Duties and responsibilities include but aren't limited to:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Prepares financial statements on a monthly basis according to dealership guidelines.
- Interprets the financial statements and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs the dealership President of developing trends.
- Provides department managers with detailed financial and management reports.
- Assists with preparing short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Manages the dealership computer system to maximize utilization.
- Travel between dealerships, as necessary
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
The best fit for our team will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other related field of study.
- Certified Professional Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred but not required.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a related field / industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous dealership experience preferred.
- Experience with CDK accounting software preferred.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Compensation: Base Salary is $100,000 annually, plus commission and car allowance.
