Controller at Atrium

Our client is a mission driven nonprofit organization supporting children and families overcome adversity. They are currently looking to hire an experienced Controller!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$100,000 – $120,000

Position Overview:

The Controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance operations and oversee a team of 3 staff. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will work closely with senior leadership. The ideal candidate for this Controller opportunity will have experience working at a non-profit, has managed a team, and is experienced with regulatory 990s.

Responsibilities of the Controller:

• Supervise the management and reconciliation of accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and regulatory guidelines
• Implement internal controls and safeguards for revenue collection, expenses, budgets, and all ledger activities
• Prepare annual financial reports and related documentation; coordinate all necessary audits
• Regularly analyze financial data and present reports accurately and on time; communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, keeping leadership informed of financial status
• Assist organizational leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; review financial plans and compare them to actual results to identify and address discrepancies as needed
• Support executives in engaging with audit and finance committees regarding financial trends and issues
• Oversee financial accounting for projects and grants, ensuring that expenditures align with budgets throughout the funding period; compile financial reporting materials for various grants
• Collaborate with program leaders to evaluate the financial effectiveness of operations and establish systems to enhance program support
• Enhance internal communication across all levels of the organization to foster a positive work environment
• Utilize the strengths of the finance team, clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop training programs to optimize individual and organizational performance

Qualifications for the Controller:

• Experience in a non-profit organization
• Experience with Regulatory 990s is required
• Management experience is required
• Must have strong Excel skills
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree is required
