About the Job
KBW Financial has partnered with a growing private Real Estate investment company in the Boston area to identify a Controller to lead it's accounting and finance function. The role will be responsible for leading / scaling the finance function while providing the company’s leadership with financial reporting and insight to support decision making. This firm invests in, develops, owns and manages commercial and residential properties across New England. This is a newly created role due to growth and is expected to be in office 5 days per week. Additional details include:
· Manage the books & records for the management company and a portfolio of residential and commercial properties.
· Manage all accounting processes – including the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.
· Manage bank lender relationships, including the loan draw process for development projects, reporting and other loan requirements.
· Collaborate with and provide billing and other accounting detail and schedules to development partners.
· Manage staff of property accountants and AR/AP professionals and oversee the timely and accurate posting of both AR and AP transactions.
· Manage and maintain fixed asset and debt activity.
· Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify integrity of all systems and business processes.
· Manage and review payroll in coordination with payroll processing company.
· Manage the intercompany fee revenue and payroll allocations between the management portfolio and operating portfolio.
· Coordinate month-end and quarter-end period close.
· Assist with the preparation of quarterly reporting to outside investors.
· Coordinate year-end close in collaboration with outside accountants.
· Collaborate with other business units to build company-wide financial operations solutions.
· Perform analysis relating to capital events, including acquisition, sale, and refinance.
Experience:
· 7+ years of financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, experience.
· Advanced Excel.
· Strong communication skills.
· Management experience.
· Real Estate experience required (commercial and residential)
