Our client is an award-winning telecommunications company that was founded in the early 2000's and is headquartered in Fairfield County. The organization is looking for a seasoned financial leader to join their team as the company's Controller. This role is extremely hands-on, but highly strategic, requiring someone who can see the big picture and make valuable contributions!
Key Responsibilities of the Controller
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team of four.
- Provide strategic financial leadership and support to the CEO and senior leadership team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance team.
- Oversee the monthly close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions to optimize cash flow and working capital.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee treasury functions, including cash management, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the company's financial stability and liquidity.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to the board of directors.
- Coordinate and oversee external audits and tax filings.
- Manage the cap table and shareholder relations.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets.
- Prepare financial forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
Qualifications of Controller
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
- Proven experience (minimum of 7+ years) in similar roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position.
- Experience in the B2B services sector required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Hands on exposure and comfort using ERPs, Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adaptability and a proactive attitude, especially in a fast-paced and ever-changing business environment.
