Description
Responsible for overseeing financial statements such as balance sheets, invoices, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Duties include compiling financial reports based on financial statements and implementing policies and procedures for financial reporting.
- Planning, directing, and coordinating accounting operational functions.
- Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements.
- Coordinating activities of external auditors.
- Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process.
- Assisting with the budget process.
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed.
- Developing and monitoring business performance metrics. • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
- Ensures that all subsidiary ledgers (Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Systems) tie to the General Ledger System, along with the budget and trial balance ties to the Financial Statements.
- Prepares on a timely basis all routine financial reports for review and approval by the Chief Financial Officer.
- Ensures that all General Ledger assets, liabilities, and fund accounts are properly documented, organized and reconcilable.
- Ensures that internal control systems are implemented. Responsible for all audits and any changes, additions, or corrections to the system.
- Prepares and maintains various records (pledges receivable) and reports on cash flow for the Chief Financial Officer's use in periodic management reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of program budgets and revisions. Maintains an ongoing analysis of budgets.
- Assist and support of outside auditors in preparation of audits.
- Report for work as scheduled.

- Performs other duties as required by the Chief Financial Officer.
- Detailed knowledge of accounting, including making adjustments on a computerized accounting system in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger.
- Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy and ability to make difficult mathematical computations.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical or legal terminology.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, a variety of government employees and management.
- Ability to type at a speed of at least thirty words per minute with a high degree of accuracy required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; Master's degree or CPA preferred or professional accreditation such as certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant (CMA) or chartered global management accountant (CGMA).
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- Supervisory experience highly desired.
- Must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills.
- Six to Ten years business experience in accounting and finance.
- Experience in the non-profit industry highly desired.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by CDC.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience in accounting, word processing and an intermediate level of spreadsheet data processing systems required.
- Understanding and experience in various government report requirements, insurance, and payroll/employee-related reporting.
