The Controller is responsible for the tactical execution of the accounting operations of the
company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an
adequate system of accounting records, and adherence to a comprehensive set of controls
designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results,
and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points.
- Perform activities necessary to close financial statements monthly in accordance with GAAP, company timelines and policies.
- Complete preparation and/or review of balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
- File and pay all required federal, state and local taxes in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and/or review of daily revenue audits, as needed.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts in collaboration with operational leadership.
- Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures.
- Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action.
- Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies.
- Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Adhere to consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures as established by the organization.
- Develop, enforce and adhere to internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting required. MBA preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects / tasks simultaneously.
- Must have excellent communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Strong analytical background and working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting.
- CPA highly preferred
