Our client, a highly regarded and growing organization in Northern NJ, is seeking a Controller to join their team. The Controller must have desire to be an active advisor to senior management on accounting, financial and strategic issues. The Controller must be willing to take on additional areas of responsibility to help maximize profits of a growing company.
Day-to-day responsibilities include planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, and budgeting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist senior executives to enable effective decision making processes.
- Management of all day-to-day activities related to finance operations.
- Supervising accounting staff; train personnel in financial reporting procedures; ensure redundancies of skills; recruit skilled replacement personnel as needed.
- Monitor and improve controls to manage financial books/records.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and forecasts.
- Managing enforcement and maintenance of classification of accounts.
- Managing and compiling reports, statements, statistics or other data.
- Responsibilities for accuracy and detail of general ledger.
- Monitor banking activities of the organization; ensure adequate line of credit on best available terms.
- Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge.
- Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
- Review and approve monthly billings for accuracy and inclusion of all applicable costs.
- Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets.
- Coordinate finance department’s needs with IT. Work with IT department to develop budgets for long term upgrading and maintenance of systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university.
- Completion of a master’s degree at an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. Experience in the Big 4 also preferred.
- Five to seven years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of an organization.
- Proven ability to be a change maker; must have a strategic vision for the organization.
