Summersalt is seeking an experienced and versatile Controller to lead and drive the day-to-day operations of our finance department. This role offers a unique opportunity to own and oversee the full spectrum of accounting responsibilities – from strategic analysis and high-level financial reporting to hands-on operational tasks. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives on both big-picture thinking and detail-oriented work.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

• Handle month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring data accuracy and timely completion.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and metrics to stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Lead and manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, payroll, sales tax compliance, and general ledger activities.
• Conduct thorough financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to advise on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy.
• Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts. 
• Review balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Work with external auditors, tax preparers and valuation services to provide needed information for the annual audit, 409A valuation and tax return.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal government requirements.
• Work collaboratively across departmental functions to help drive optimal business performance and results.  
• Complete other duties and strategic projects as needed.

ABOUT YOU:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
• 7 years of relevant accounting experience, with a track record of managing both high-level and operational accounting responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Office.
• Exposure to Quickbooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct or other ERP software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly changing organization.
• Demonstrated initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
