SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role involves developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The position manages tight deadlines and various accounting activities, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, audit schedule preparation, and supporting budget and forecast activities. This role serves as a liaison between Accounts Payable, Payroll, Finance, and Office Management, acting as a subject-matter expert for accounting activities. The position also participates in projects of varying sizes and complexity, system evaluations, implementation of new system enhancements, upgrades, policy changes, and problem resolution.
PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and reporting requirements.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines to manage rapid growth.
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements, including those related to private contributions, loans, and government contracts.
Provide leadership and hands-on engagement in corporate and operational financial functions, including financial and operational control, business integration, planning, forecasting, analysis, cash flow, audit, taxes, and corporate development.
Serve as a strategic business partner, offering forward-looking insights and solving strategic issues.
Utilize advanced MS Excel skills for analysis and decision-making within the management team.
Maintain internal control safeguards for revenue, costs, budgets, and actual expenditures.
Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Develop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
Lead and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership, fostering an environment of trust and productivity.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or relevant work experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Over 15 years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager, preferably in healthcare.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Proven ability to build and develop strong teams and processes.
Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis.
Experience in private equity-backed businesses, preferably in the healthcare sector (preferred but not required).
Background in mergers and acquisitions and their integration.
Experience with third-party audit and tax processes.
Proven expertise in payroll and accounts payable, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes.
Exemplary history of financial project management.
