Tekni-Plex Consumer Products Division – Van Wert, OH
(Manufacturer of molded pulp consumer products)
Compensation: $120k+ annual salary (depending upon experience)
PLUS eligibility for annual bonus
Description:
The Van Wert, OH Fiber plant is a part of the Consumer Products Division of a global leader in Consumer Products & Healthcare solutions. The CONTROLLER will be primarily responsible for the financial leadership at the plant and is a key member of the plant leadership team. Overseeing a finance team of 2-3 people, this role has overall financial responsibility for: Plant Income/Loss Statements, Balance Sheet, Business budgets, forecasts, and internal controls. Plant Controller is also responsible for GAAP and statutory accounting, cost accounting, business analysis, market product segmentation, financial and operational reporting, production/inventory/labor optimization as well as capital investments. In this start-up location, the Controller will be responsible for helping to setup existing Tekni systems such as LN & Payroll. Key Accountabilities:

Employee Experience: Partner with HR and plant leadership team to attract, embrace, and empower people. Maintain structure of skilled staffing level to accomplish finance department mission. Directly supervise, coach, mentor, & develop finance team, driving & adhering to a “We Grow People” approach to training/growth/development.
Accelerate Innovation: Understand business needs & goals and transform ideas into action. This position requires the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial and operational data, leads efforts to identify cost reduction and productivity recommendations by partnering with plant leadership team and other functional areas.
Optimize Our Work: Observe/evaluate concerns and opportunities in processes, procedures and/or systems. Manage the monthly closing and ensure monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts are performed and are accurate. Coordinate and participate in physical inventories and ensure inventory is reported accurately. Proactively identifies manufacturing cost trends that impact the business and financial results.
Win as a Team: Works closely with the Plant Manager to produce accurate and timely financial analysis. Provide support to other U.S. locations as needed. Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports. The Controller must also have the interpersonal skills to successfully lead teams and collaborate with others to implement recommendations and drive change initiatives.
Position Requirements:
- Requires a proven background, record of success and proven mix of financial accounting and operational experiences, to include financial planning & operational accounting planning skills (FP&A and Cost Analyst).
- Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business field with more then 7-10 years’ experience; CPA and or MBA preferred with strong GAAP knowledge.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and hands on knowledge of manufacturing systems and link to financial reporting and performance interpretation
- Minimum 5-yrs. experience working with LN or other comparable ERP system
- Experience in understanding customer and market segmentation.
- Exceptional verbal/written communication skills as well as interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are critical for excelling in this position.
- Detail oriented, Excellent skills in advanced Excel and business modelling
Ideal Candidate will possess:
- Basic knowledge of procedural technique or processes.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a production/manufacturing organization.
- Understanding of machine function and process capability, preferred.
- Self-directed approach to work & prioritization.
