POSITION SUMMARY
As Controller, you will partner with the local President and sales team to profitably grow the business. In addition to being the local financial leader, you will coordinate financial and other activities with the group office in Chanhassen, MN. You will leverage your experience and skills to assist in developing processes and procedures in combing two offices previously operating separately. You will partner with Group Accounting, Finance, HR, IT and ERP teams to implement and upgrade systems and reporting.
Key Duties and essential functions:
Analyze and provide insight to all the key financial areas including sales, gross profit margins, operating costs, and working capital.
Monitor financial activities and details, including cash flow.
Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Review and understand upcoming projects (backlog) and pipeline to build short and long-term forecasts.
Analyzes variances from budget and prior periods, discusses results, provides insight and recommendations to key stakeholders.
Involved in modeling and contracting for larger jobs, ensuring accurate forecast of profitability, understand cash flow of projects, and identify risks in T&Cs.
Liaison between project management and accounting to ensure data is entered into the ERP system timely and accurately.
Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts and annual budgets.
Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions.
Accurate and timely processing of AP invoices, including the payment of invoices to vendors
Manage collection of past due receivables.
Key player in upgrading ERP.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of related experience in progressive accounting roles
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers.
Ability to problem solve and work in a fast-paced environment.
Natural curiosity to follow the data to the correct answer.
Ability to gain “buy-in” and challenge the status quo in a collaborative manner.
Independently motivated.
Able to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks, have excellent attention to detail, and be willing and able to learn new technologies quickly.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must be able to observe details at close range.
