Engineer, Control Systems
Our company works on Industrial related projects in the Refining, Gas & Oil, Pipeline, Renewable, Chemical, and Biopharm Industries, specifically for Automation and Engineering aspects of the projects. Our company is seeking a Control Systems Engineer for our Gonzales, LA office. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge and competency with all areas of control systems engineering. Must demonstrate the ability to work to a high standard of professionalism within a team environment.
Position Summary:
The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for PLC, DCS and HMI configuration, development, implementation and commissioning. The successful candidate will apply industry wide technical knowledge in development of new approaches to control systems design and engineering.
Technical Capabilities:
- Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments.
- Performs specialized technical work which may involve development of systems engineering, distributive and/or computer controls of processes.
- Establishes basic design and specifications for control systems and associated instrumentation.
- Develops new control concepts as required.
- Keeps the Project Manager informed of changes to scope and deviations from contract; Submits trend reports for change orders.
- Has responsibility for all control system design work, such as installation drawings and details, loops drawings, logic diagrams, and vendor drawings.
- PLC / HMI Programming:
- PLC programming (Triconex, HIMA, Honeywell SM, Allen Bradley preferred)
- HMI programming (Wonderware, PanelView and RSView preferred)
- Familiarity with P&ID’s, Logic Diagrams, Cause / Effect matrices, and Functional Narratives
- Test procedure development
- Cutovers/loop checks
- Startup assistance/trouble shooting
- Operations/maintenance training
Requirements:
5+ years’ experience
Education:
B.S. Engineering or related technological field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
