We are looking for a Controls Engineer III to join our team in our Loveland, CO office. JFT will accept applications until this position is filled.
Job Function:
To design, develop, and implement electrical control systems from concept through detailed production design, including testing and troubleshooting of one-of-a-kind equipment.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Design electrical and controls systems based on engineering principles and participate in presenting these outcomes to our clients. Create customized solutions utilizing software design, manufacturing automation, and safety systems. Support the manufacture, build, and validation of systems which include hydraulics, pneumatics, servos, VFD's, relays, communication networks, touchscreens HMIs, pushbuttons and robotic integration. Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and controls systems and resolve issues on live equipment and in simulations. Devise programs that are simple to test, versatile and well documented. Interpret client requirements while determining and addressing design parameters and engineering challenges. Maintain project scope and identify project creep. Assist project teams in selecting appropriate electrical devices given environmental, technical, and packaging issues. Provide technical support to customers, both internal and external. Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, electrical schematics, and drawings.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in nuclear, high hazard remote or special purpose machinery design.
- Skilled in MS Office with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and programming various manufacturer PLCs.
- Regulatory compliance and experience with hazardous locations preferred.
- This position may require the incumbent to work with export-controlled items.
Typical Working Conditions:
Primarily an office environment with work periodically performed in the fabrication/machine shop and outdoor testing areas. Depending on the project, there may be occasional travel to customer job sites. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and use standard office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers, and vendors is essential. May occasionally lift and carry objects, typically under 50 pounds. At times, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing and crawling to access and inspect equipment is required.
