What You’ll Do:
- Take hands-on ownership of controls engineering project requirements that include designing control systems, programming Distributed Control Systems and PLCs, configuring control panels, applying precision instrumentation, supporting check-out, and implementing start ups. Full life cycle, concept to implementation projects!
- Work at client sites and collaborate with client teams to complete projects on time and within budget constraints.
- Develop clear documentation including theoretical principles, detailed control system configuration and design, operational details, system implementation, test plans, and any other details needed to keep equipment up and running.
- Solving problems, managing projects methodically, and creating partnerships internally with teammates and also with external clients will be important aspects of this role.
- Act as technical lead, mentor less experienced engineers, technicians, and contractors, and at times, act as Project Manager on projects ($50,000 to $250,000 budgets).
- Your creativity and applied knowledge will generate repeat business with existing clients and also lead you to projects with new clients.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely-related discipline is required. (Directly-related experience may be considered in place of a degree.)
- 5 or more years of experience is required in automation and control engineering, along with in-depth experience with instrumentation and controls and PLC system design (i.e., Allen Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, etc.) Experience with Distributed I/O systems is highly desirable.
- Expertise with Ethernet-based control systems, safety systems, precision instrumentation, components, logic programs, and programming Distributed Control Systems.
- A track record of delivering innovative automation solutions and design standards to meet customer requirements, including experience with contract documents, collecting data in the field, documentation, and accurately recording results.
- As a Project Manager, Team Lead, or Project Management Assistant, you have overseen or worked with team leaders or managers on daily operations and activities of projects up to $250K, while ensuring that projects stay within budget, are profitable, and are delivered on time.
- Ability to travel up to 15% and to occasionally work on evening or weekend equipment start ups - with these responsibilities being rotated amongst the team members.
