Our client have an opening for a Controls Engineer in Orlando, FL. This position focuses on electrical and controls engineering for large-scale projects, including system design, electrical panel design, and control system programming.
Responsibilities:
- Design control systems from the ground up, including hardware, software, and network components.
- Use drafting software (AutoCAD preferred) to create detailed system designs.
- Collaborate with facility design teams to optimize panel locations and improve system efficiency.
- Manage vendor scopes to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with contract requirements.
- Ensure designs meet local, government, and client codes/standards.
- Conduct technical risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Design and analyze safety-critical components and redundant systems to enhance reliability.
- Develop detailed documents, including system descriptions, panel assembly drawings, network layouts, and test plans.
- Perform calculations and analyses related to short circuit protection, harmonics, noise reduction, and power consumption.
- Provide support during installation and commissioning, including working off-hours as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (related work experience may be considered for degrees in other disciplines).
- 5+ years of experience in control system design, with a preference for ASTM standards, attractions industry, and safety engineering.
- Proficiency with major industrial manufacturers' hardware/software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Experience with ethernet-based distributed remote I/O systems.
- Strong organizational skills, technical competence, and effective communication abilities.
- Familiarity with contract documents, field data collection, and system design functions.
- Ability to perform various system design calculations and analyses.
