SUMMARY:

The Controls Engineer will be responsible forPlanning, schedulingand implementing embedded controls, application features and software engineering related activities for ICE, Hybrid and BEV projects. The successful candidate will be capable and self-motivated to deliver complete high-quality solutions, including requirements definition to concept design, though development verification and testing to final validation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, plan and support control system development activities
- Ability to define requirements documentation and logically develop system architecture design
- Lead and/or support sub-system, system, MIL, SIL, HIL, dyno, and vehicle level integration activities
- Prepare, technical reports, papers and presentations
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams
- Ability to adapt, integrate and work well with others is essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
- Self-motivated with the drive to deliver high quality work within target timing
- Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints, as part of a team or individually
- Generate and review project proposals and participate in business development activities when required
- Maintain a specialist working knowledge of new technologies as appropriate to the role
- Observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area
- Maintain awareness of and meet the requirements of the Company Quality System.
- Flexibility with working hours including weekends and willingness to travel to customer sites for both long and short durations (including secondments)
- Employee duties are not limited to those stated above, but are inclusive of any tasks assigned by supervisor/manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in related field, Master's preferred
- Professional qualifications as appropriate
- Minimum 2 years' experience in powertrain & engine controls development
- Experience with internal combustion engine and hybrid controls
- Experience working with automotive micro-controllers and FPGAs
- Experience with software development life cycle, requirements definition, integration, test, build and release activities
- Experience defining robustness documentation including boundary diagrams, FMEA, DVP
- Experience leading/supporting test and integration activities on HIL, DYNO, and vehicle
- Conduct and / or participate in design/architecture reviews
- Experience developing embedded software using MATLAB MBD for Engine Controls
- Knowledge of automotive communication and diagnostics protocols
- Experience with ISO26262 functional safety compliance and ASIL risk classification is preferred
