What is this role?
As an Controls Engineering Technician for Cirkul, you will be responsible for assisting in the development, installation, and maintenance of control systems for various applications. Your contributions will be instrumental in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our controls engineering department.
What does an average day look like?
- Driving Results: Learn and develop proficiency in multiple programming software used in controls engineering, including but not limited to PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), HMI (Human-Machine Interface) development, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and industrial networking protocols.
- Taking Ownership: Maintain accurate documentation of control system designs, modifications and troubleshooting procedures.
- Making Decisions: Diagnose and resolve issues related to control systems.
- Cultivating Relationships: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, accounting, supply chain, automation engineering and IT to gather requirements and implement control system solutions that meet business needs.
- Instilling Trust: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards during the installation and operation of control systems.
- Customer Focus: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in control system technologies and propose innovative ideas for continuous improvement within the controls engineering department.
What background should you have?
- 3+ years of experience in related fields.
- Strong passion for controls engineering and a desire to build a career in this field.
- Solid understanding of basic electrical and control system principles.
- Familiarity with programming languages and software used in controls engineering, such as ladder logic (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, TIA Portal, WinCC), AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of the following areas: nomenclature of all assigned equipment, solid state circuitry, electronics, electrical-mechanical devices, transmission systems, interface units, AC/DC motors, wiring diagrams and schematics, computers and inspection and digital devices.
- Ability to take high level direction and turn it into executable tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.
- Requires working with or near energized 480 VAC circuits.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
