What You'll Do:
As the Controls/Robotic Engineering Manager, you will lead and oversee the Robotic and PLC Engineering team to perform PLC and HMI programming and robot programming for custom automation, MiR, AMR, and Fanuc robotics systems ensuring company and customer goals are met/exceeded.
Your Accountabilities in the Role:
- Oversees resource planning, labor and material budgets, and mentoring and coaching subordinates, from concept through the final machine acceptance phases and continuous improvement, ensuring business goals are met.
- Oversees project execution performance metrics of software designs; including schedule, budget, scope, risk, and customer satisfaction to ensure department goals are met.
- Manages and records final documentation of both hardware and PLC and HMI programming for custom machine and robot integration projects, per customer specifications/requirements.
- Provides leadership and guidance for both internal and external electrical concepts and final design reviews ensuring overall customer satisfaction.
- Assists CE and RE's with writing programs as needed and evaluate the teams' program writing, startup of equipment, debugging, and FAT/SAT runoff to meet the overall goals of the department.
- Coordinates and travels to customer sites as a team for installation and start-up support of custom machinery and automation ensuring customer satisfaction.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive custom automation hardware and software design experience in a manufacturing environment. 5+ years of project team leadership and supervisory/management experience over controls engineering team(s) in an automation company. Prior experience with PLC and HMI programming, Fanuc robot programming, safety circuits, vision systems, lasers, conveyor systems, assembly systems, fluid power, and robot systems integration is highly desirable.

- Functional Skills: Excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills. Detail-oriented and thorough. Requires solid math, analytical, and problem-solving skills to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas. Strong time management with ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and due dates. Technical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment and machinery. Resource planning skills with the ability to manage department goals and project budgets. History of meeting or exceeding individual and department performance goals and objectives.
- Technology Skills: Advanced PC skills is required as well as Microsoft Office skills with a Proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Industrial Networking experience including Ethernet/IP, Control Net, and Device Net.Hardware design and PLC programming experience with a minimum of two platforms. Preference is proficiency with Allen Bradley and Omron PLC programming platforms. Mitsubishi and Siemens a plus. Experience developing PLC and HMI programs from scratch, and developing/programming robots. Experience developing standard templates/formats on writing PLC/HMI/Robotic programs.

Other Important Information:
Pay/Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise. Potential for annual profitability bonus.

Reports To: Automation Engineering Manager
Core Hours: 8 am - 5 pm (schedule can be flexible; will work approx. 8 hours within this timeframe)
Typical Work Week: M-F; some weekends & OT required; 40 - 45 hours a week on average
Direct Reports: Approx. 12 PLC Controls Engineers and Robotic Engineers
Travel: Approximately 5% to customer sites.
