Job Summary:
We’re looking to add a Controls Technician at our Cleveland OH location. This is a full-time, onsite position.
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Controls Technician will provide automation and electrical support to critical systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Typical Schedule: 7:30am to 3:30pm either Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday. On-Call schedule rotation.
What You Will Do on a Typical Day:
Act as first line of production support and troubleshooting from automation and continuous improvement endeavors in a 24/7 environment.
Provide complete end-to-end support of control systems.
Review and troubleshoot PLC programs.
Become domain expert of systems in areas of responsibility.
Work as part of Project Teams.
Control System Hardware configuration and support.
Acquire knowledge of existing systems and remain current with system upgrades.
Identify opportunities to elevate safety, reduce cost, increase efficiency, and improve quality.
Provide leadership when troubleshooting complex systems and sub-systems to Maintenance and Production employees.
Follow Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements.
What You Will Need:
Associate’s Degree in Technical Field or combination of education and experience.
Three plus years’ relevant experience in maintenance or production.
Knowledge of PLC programming and communication protocols.
Knowledge in troubleshooting and installing control system hardware.
A strong safety mindset.
Ability to create, interpret and update wiring diagrams and schematics.
Ability to work well with team members and clearly communicate.
Willingness to work in a heavy industrial environment.
Motor drive (VFD) troubleshooting and configuration.
Working knowledge of site-specific communication networks. (i.e. Profinet, Profibus, or Controlnet).
“Nice to Have” Experience:
Experience with site specific technologies (i.e. Siemens PLC, Step 7, and TIA Portal or Rockwell).
Experience working with electrical and electronic equipment (encoders, proximity sensors, temp, and pressure sensors, LVDTs, etc.).
Steel plant or equivalent industrial experience.
Working knowledge of HMI and control system interfacing.
Root-cause identification and implementation of solutions.
Understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
Using data acquisition software for trending and problem solving.
