Cook for Auxiliary Operations
Description
This position is eligible for four ten hour days! It is full time,
benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $19.26 -
$23.59 per hour. Shift and weekend wage differential is available,
adding $1.00-$2.50 per hour additional pay for eligible shifts.
Middlebury College is seeking individuals to join our Tavern on the Tee
and Snow Bowl team! As a Cook, you'll play a crucial role in preparing,
cooking, and serving delectable dishes for our campus community while
ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and sanitation.

Core Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Review production sheets and menus to prepare a
variety of food items according to recipes and volume requirements.
- Ingredient Preparation: Prepare proteins, vegetables, fruits,
and other ingredients for daily meal production, including salad bar
items.
- Cooking: Cook and prepare food items at individual stations
throughout the shift, following supervisor's instructions and
production sheets.
- Collaboration: Work with kitchen staff to maintain timely and
efficient meal service. Assist other cooks and dining staff as
needed.
- Quality Control: Conduct taste tests and ensure food
presentation meets quality standards before service.
- Service Setup: Set up service lines with fresh food to avoid
shortages or excess.
- Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment to
uphold sanitary kitchen procedures.
Requirements
- Education: High school degree or equivalent experience required.
Culinary training through an accredited culinary school or
vocational program preferred.
- Certifications:
- Must be Serve Safe certified or successfully pass the exam after
hire date.
- Must gain and maintain VT DLC (Department of Liquor Control)
certification, Middlebury College drivers license
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of previous food preparation
experience required.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Thorough knowledge of quality volume food preparation and
production using accurate measurement with standard recipes.
- Extensive knowledge of a variety of cooking methods and
techniques, proper safe food handling practices, and skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times during the day and up to
50 lbs. several times each day. Must be able to push and pull up to 150
lbs. frequently. Must be able to lift items above waist level. Must be
able to perform numerous manual tasks and use a variety of kitchen
equipment in a safe manner. Requires long periods of time standing, as
well as frequent bending and reaching. Back ground check required.
