Cook Responsibility Highlights include:
Prepares and serves food and alternates using standardized recipes for regular and therapeutic diets in proper quantities according to planned menu, temperature, and production schedule and diet preference.
Prepares, stores, and disposes of food using proper food handling, labeling, and temperature control and safety techniques according to facility and regulatory guidelines.
Ensures that food is served in an attractive, appetizing manner. Uses proper tasting techniques to ensure quality taste and palatability prior to service.
Maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service. Ensure thermometers are properly calibrated and record food temperatures according to facility and regulatory guidelines.
Ensures that refrigerator/freezer units have an internal thermometer, are within appropriate ranges and record temperatures according to facility and regulatory guidelines.
Responsible for the opening and/or closing of the kitchen.
Assists in the preparation, pre-portioning and/or serving of meals, beverages, and snacks for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu and production sheets and/or as directed.
Utilizes the tray line and diet card system.
Assists in and oversee the assembly and accuracy of the preparation and delivery of food and diet trays according to planned menu, tray ticket specification, diet preferences, regulatory portioning, and diet order all according to the established time schedules.
Deliver nourishment to residents as prescribed.
Consistently prepare meals on time so that serving schedules are met.
Monitor portion control guidelines for individual residents to prevent food waste.
Prepare food for facility personnel, families, visitors, and for special occasions and events.
Manually and/ or automatically washes then stores dishes and utensils according to facility and regulatory guidelines recording wash, rinse, and chemical temperatures.
Performs assigned kitchen and dining room cleaning assignments utilizing proper cleaning chemicals and techniques according to facility and regulatory guidelines.
Always maintain food service equipment and workspaces in a clean and safe condition according to facility and regulatory guidelines.
Will be scheduled 22.5 hours in two weeks.
Cook Minimum Qualifications:
Experience as a cook in an institutional food service setting.
Experience in the preparation of foods in high quantities.
