Senior Laboratory Information Coordinator Position Summary
The Senior Laboratory Information Coordinator receives and processes blood and other body fluids/specimen and coordinates information between laboratory sections and between the Laboratory and its clients. He/she maintains the daily operation of the Laboratory computer system and must have advanced knowledge of the theory and performance of the system and associated devices. He/she, along with the LIS Section Head, installs, maintains and troubleshoots various instrument interfaces between the Hospital Information System (HIS) and the Laboratory Computer System (LIS). He/she serves as resource person for the section and assists the LIS Section Head in the management and supervision of the Laboratory Information Systems Section (Computer/Receiving Room). He/she participates in the educational and professional development of laboratory personnel, new employees and students, and participates in the performance of routine administrative and non-routine technical functions.
Senior Laboratory Information Coordinator Position Requirements
Education
- Completion of college level courses in computer theory and application preferred.
- Must be able to type and use computer keypad.
- Familiar with medical terminology.
- Data entry experience required.
Experience
- Two years as a computer operator.
- One year in laboratory computer section.
