Core Systems Analyst - First Financial Credit Union

About the Job
First Financial Credit Union (FFCU), a financial institution based in Southern California, is seeking a Core System Analyst to join its team at the new operations center in Pasadena. The role involves ensuring that all core banking and complementary applications are operating at optimal performance levels. Additionally, the Core Systems Analyst I will handle the initial setup of new products, program and generate reports and data files, assist with the implementation of key projects, and recommend and implement system enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 (escalated) and Tier 3 (specialized) technical support for in-depth resolution of core banking and complementary system issues.
- Offer limited Tier 1 (basic) technical support as necessary. Facilitate Tier 4 (vendor) technical support when required, and liaise with vendors to ensure the successful resolution of escalated Tier 4 issues.
- Research, analyze, and rectify application errors and malfunctions.
- Assist in managing credit union core banking and complementary applications, including updating applications to the latest stable versions supported by the developers.
- Create custom programs and reports for credit union management.
- Develop documentation for core systems and contribute to the creation of information technology policies and procedures.
- Participate in information security planning and implementation, particularly concerning the core banking system and complementary applications.
- Engage in disaster recovery, system redundancy, and business continuity planning and testing.
- Respond to off-hour alerts, calls, emails, or notifications as necessary to maintain operational efficiency, uptime, and IT environment security.
- Work with IT team members to identify patterns in issues and propose long-term strategies to reduce incoming problems.
- Ensure open communication with IT leadership regarding events or incidents within the IT environment.
- Collaborate with IT team members to define and design improvements to existing processes and new procedures.
- Travel to branch locations as needed for support calls and installations.
- Actively align IT department systems and practices with current and relevant FFIEC and NCUA regulatory guidelines.
- Aid in the remediation of audit and regulatory report findings, researching, and implementing strategies to address or meet regulatory requirements. Execute all responsibilities in accordance with laws, regulations.
- Ensure all duties are performed in accordance with laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies and procedures.
- Compliance with all BSA and OFAC regulations is mandatory.
Qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Possessing a thorough working knowledge of the Symitar core banking system, along with proficiency in at least one other application utilized by First Financial Credit Union.
- Exhibiting robust verbal and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Capable of working autonomously and making informed decisions.
- Able to lift and transport equipment when required (occasionally up to 50 pounds).
- Holding a valid driver's license and maintaining auto insurance coverage.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree is preferred.
- A minimum of two years' experience in IT within a financial institution, including resolving technical issues, is essential.
- At least two years of experience in administering and supporting the Symitar core-banking system by Jack Henry & Associates, with the ability to develop custom programs using PowerOn, is necessary.
- Must be willing to work outside standard business hours and on weekends as needed.
