Corporate Controller - Queens NY - Jewelry Manufacturing
Our team is working with a leading manufacturer & retailer of high end Jewelry to hire a Corporate Controller to their growing team. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, with a focus on inventory management, cost accounting, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, cash flow projections, and the preparation of monthly financial statements. Additionally, the Controller will manage borrowing-based reports and be familiar with retailer chargebacks. This role will have three direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal financial policies.
Inventory and Cost Accounting:

Oversee inventory management and cost accounting processes.

Implement and maintain effective inventory control procedures.

Analyze cost variances and work with operations to optimize cost efficiency.
Cash Flow Management:

Prepare and manage cash flow projections to ensure adequate liquidity.

Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.

Develop strategies to improve cash flow and financial performance.
Borrowing-Based Reporting:

Prepare and manage borrowing-based reports for financial institutions.

Ensure accurate and timely reporting to lenders.

Maintain relationships with financial institutions and ensure compliance with covenants.
Retailer Chargebacks:

Manage and resolve retailer chargebacks efficiently.

Implement processes to minimize chargebacks and improve collection cycles.

Work closely with sales and operations to address charge back issues.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.

Experience in inventory management, cost accounting, and financial analysis.

Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the jewelry industry.

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.

Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.

Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling.
