Corporate Controller - Queens NY - Jewelry Manufacturing

Our team is working with a leading manufacturer & retailer of high end Jewelry to hire a Corporate Controller to their growing team. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, with a focus on inventory management, cost accounting, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, cash flow projections, and the preparation of monthly financial statements. Additionally, the Controller will manage borrowing-based reports and be familiar with retailer chargebacks. This role will have three direct reports.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal financial policies.

Inventory and Cost Accounting:

• Oversee inventory management and cost accounting processes.

• Implement and maintain effective inventory control procedures.

• Analyze cost variances and work with operations to optimize cost efficiency.

Cash Flow Management:

• Prepare and manage cash flow projections to ensure adequate liquidity.

• Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.

• Develop strategies to improve cash flow and financial performance.

Borrowing-Based Reporting:

• Prepare and manage borrowing-based reports for financial institutions.

• Ensure accurate and timely reporting to lenders.

• Maintain relationships with financial institutions and ensure compliance with covenants.

Retailer Chargebacks:

• Manage and resolve retailer chargebacks efficiently.

• Implement processes to minimize chargebacks and improve collection cycles.

• Work closely with sales and operations to address charge back issues.
   

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.

• Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.

• Experience in inventory management, cost accounting, and financial analysis.

• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the jewelry industry.

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.

• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.

• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling.
