The Corporate Counsel – Emerging Tech Governance will be a key legal partner to various cross-functional teams, including with teams that build our best-in-class cybersecurity products. Reporting to the Senior Director, Associate General Counsel, you will work on critical emerging regulatory landscapes with key stakeholders across the company. You are motivated by unique issues and enthusiastic about being the legal partner to our Engineering, Product Management, Information Security and Sales teams. You are experienced in translating complex legal issues into efficient and practical solutions for the company.
You have a “can do” attitude and will partner with cross-functional teams to drive results-focused solutions, with the goal of enabling the business. You will have experience advising and actioning on data and AI/ML projects, and be engaged in keeping up-to-date with the evolving regulatory landscape related to data and cybersecurity.
Your Impact
- In collaboration with legal colleagues and product leaders, implement a scalable process for conducting AI/ML impact assessments and other security assessments on new products and enhancements to existing products
- Perform continuous development of whitepapers mapping between regulations and product capability, enabling compliance with customer preferences and regulatory obligations
- Partner with legal colleagues and product leaders to develop new and update existing Privacy Datasheets
- Partner with Information Security to advance our privacy by design program
- Work closely with the functional teams to understand their perspectives, processes, applications and technologies to ensure compliance with applicable data regulations and industry best practices while guiding and delivering solutions for the teams
- Develop and update playbooks to enable legal colleagues and product leaders
- Handle special projects as requested
Your Experience
- Education - J.D. degree from ABA accredited or reputable international law school, or equivalent military experience required
- Bar - Should be a member in good standing of an applicable bar
- 5 years of experience working on emerging technology issues either at a law firm or a SaaS / cybersecurity company
- Experience in global data regulations (e.g., NIS2 Directive, EU AI Act, EU Data Act and other security and data protection frameworks)
- Experience reviewing products, features, and initiatives to provide sound risk-based advice in light of the evolving regulatory landscape

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic legal department and a growing Product Counsel team. The Palo Alto Networks Product Counsel team works as a trusted business partner to the entire Engineering, Product Management and Information Security organization, providing expert guidance and education to facilitate adoption of our products. We work tirelessly with our clients to deliver the most comprehensive and automated security that uses AI to protect and support customers in real time.
Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $165000 - $267500/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
