Position Description:As a Paralegal, you will be responsible for providing support for a broad range of legal activities including, but not limited to, immigration and corporate matters. This position will receive cross training to support litigation and transactional functions. You will collaborate closely with our legal team to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will play a key role in maintaining corporate records and assisting with special projects as needed. Administrative duties will include managing legal documentation and correspondence, as well as organizing and maintaining our legal filing system. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee immigration cases, including compiling immigration eligibility documents, processing incoming documentation from government agencies, updating individual team members, coordinating with teams to ensure that filing deadlines are met, maintaining case files and electronic databases, and providing overall immigration support to internal customers.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on immigration filings.
- Track immigration case or contract workflow, renewal, and termination dates, and provide updates to the team.
- Draft letters and agreements for various business groups and update electronic database to reflect agreement terms.
- Prepare civil case filings, attend hearings, and pursue judgment enforcement.
- Provide general administrative support, including editing, formatting, copying, scanning, and filing.
Performance Objectives:
First 30 days
- Focus on learning about the company and your role.
- Complete all company and department-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and trainings.
- Learn about your team structure and the individuals who are part of it.
- Discover the systems that are used in the company.
- Understand the processes that the company follows.
Within 60 Days
- Understand legal processes for contracts, corporate governance, immigration filings, and litigation.
- Facilitate immigration filings with support from Legal team.
- Draft template agreements with guidance from the Legal team.
After 90 days to one year
Independently manage and process immigration filings.
Draft and review agreements with guidance as needed.
Analyze and elevate legal risks and issues as appropriate.
Position Requirements:
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with strong academic credentials.
- American Bar Association (ABA) approved Paralegal certificate preferred.
- One to two years of full-time legal experience, primarily supporting immigration or corporate activities. Ideal candidate has experience in both areas, but company will train, as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and accurately under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of immigration process.
- Knowledge of civil litigation process.
- Strong drafting skills and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal clients at all levels.
- Consistent and reliable work ethic.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Robust computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to learn the use of contract management software and database docketing system.
