About the Job
JOB PURPOSE:
The Corporate Vice President of Purchasing has core responsibilities for strategic planning and support for the Divisions’ purchasing efforts including supply chain management, procurement, cost management, operational efficiencies and ERP system set ups and use.
Another core responsibility is the strategic sourcing, negotiations of agreements, establishment of specifications coupled with planning and implementing manufactured product roll outs nationally, regionally or locally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for selecting our national programs based on adding the best value and products to our homes, ensuring a reliable supply chain, creating favorable pricing controls and securing rebates, model discounts, signing bonuses, cobranding marketing budget, etc.
- Responsible signatory party representing DRB on all varieties of manufactured product, distribution or labor agreements on a national or regional level.
- Directly responsible for rebate management including but not limited to system set up, invoicing, income allocations, GL reconciliations and Division training and interactions.
- Strategic and tactical project management during new company acquisitions.
- Train, coach and mentor internal Purchasing Leadership candidates from Corporate and Division staff.
- Works directly with Division Purchasing/Production leadership establishing operational and cost management goals.
- Provide leadership, direction and assistance to Division Presidents regarding Purchasing department functions, policies and procedures.
- Liaison with Sumitomo staff on a wide range of strategic initiatives including but not limited to Sumitomo/BSG companies vertical integration efforts, Sumitomo National Purchasing agreement management and implementation and primary connection for Sumitomo on all supply chain management updates and strategies.
- Provide support to the divisions by coaching, training, and assisting the Division Presidents in managing their respective Purchasing Teams as needed and necessary
- Oversee/conduct Division reviews on product use annually.
- Work with Corporate Counsel on risk management issues that include regular and scored audits of National, Regional and Divisional vendor contracts.
- Manage Corporate Purchasing strategies and overall company strategies based around an aggressive growth strategy that is standing up the long term planning of DRB/Sumitomo.
- Oversee creation of in-depth reporting tools for a more robust cost control management for Divisions.
- Oversee the addition of options, parts and bid rates in the ERP
- Core duties require travel to Divisions, occasional trade shows and any additional special circumstance training or liaison role duties that may need to be fulfilled. Estimated 25-30%.
- Other as deemed necessary by the executive team.

Knowledge and Skills
- Leadership skills: a demonstrated ability to lead people and build teams in a direct and indirect reporting structure.
- Planning skills: manage multiple complex projects with a long-term strategic approach wrapped around the business plans and goals.
- Management skills: the ability to organize, manage and oversee multiple complex priorities with an emphasis on goal commitments
- Problem analysis/resolution skills: highly adept at problem solving on all levels of homebuilding including but not limited to Sumitomo Corporate, DRB Corporate, DRB Divisions and all outside agencies in association with DRB or Sumitomo or Sumitomo companies.
- Strong interpersonal skills: show maturity, possess good judgment, be fair and reasoned and be capable of communicating with a widely diverse range of individuals

- Must have valid state driver’s license
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and minimum 10 years experience within the homebuilding industry with concentration in field operations, procurement, purchasing and supply chain management at a national, regional and local level OR
- equivalent combination of education and/or work experience
- Functional expertise in production homebuilding blueprints, residential construction methodologies, national homebuilding purchasing/procurement, negotiations, and specifying, general knowledge of homebuilding financials and systems
