Job Description: Correctional LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
Position Overview: The Correctional LPN provides essential nursing care to inmates within a correctional facility. This role involves working as part of a healthcare team to ensure the health and well-being of incarcerated individuals while maintaining safety and security protocols. Most of the open position are second shift working 8hour shifts.
Key Responsibilities: Correctional LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
- Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care, including assessments, medication administration, wound care, and basic health education to inmates.
- Health Assessments: Conduct initial and ongoing health assessments, recording vital signs and medical histories.
- Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions, ensuring compliance with healthcare policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely medical records, documenting all patient interactions and treatments in accordance with facility policies.
- Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies and assist in stabilizing patients until further medical assistance is available.
- Health Education: Provide health education and counseling to inmates on topics such as disease prevention, hygiene, and medication adherence.
- Compliance: Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, ensuring a safe and secure environment for both staff and inmates.
Qualifications: Correctional LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
- Education: Valid LPN license from an accredited program.
- Experience: Previous nursing experience preferred; experience in correctional or psychiatric settings is a plus.
- Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Certification: Current CPR certification and any other required certifications.
- Background Check: Must pass a background check and any other required security screenings.
