Salary: $75,000 to $90,000 depending on experience
Cost Accountant Principal Objective
Supports creation and analysis of product cost modeling. Participates on cross functional teams as needed. Provides advice on factors contributing to cost variances in support of cost reduction and new product efforts. Prepares reconciliations and analyses.
Cost Accountant Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- 2-7 years of experience.
- Participates in the annual physical inventory to ensure accurate counting and recording of inventory.
- Assists with the annual standard cost update and analysis to ensure accurate costs are established.
- Works with Operations to resolve inventory problems (negative inventory, BOM errors etc.)
- Assists with readiness controls and the activation of standard costs for new items.
- Prepares assigned account reconciliations and related journal entries.
- Provides backup for monthly capitalized variances and amortization calculations.
- Provides variances analysis including adjustments and communicates the root cause of the variance and recommendations to correct.
- Supports cost roll-ups for quotes.
- Works closely with Operations to resolve issues that impact the accuracy of cost data.
- Ad hoc reporting and analytical projects as requested.

Cost Accountant Desired Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and 2-7 years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- The position requires good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, highly motivated professional with a positive attitude and effective problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
Cost Accountant Certifications, Licenses and/or Registrations
- CPA and/or CMA preferred.
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- Microsoft Dynamics AX or other accounting software desirable.
- Must have strong analytical skills, work with minimal supervision, be highly motivated and be able to mine data.
