Title: Cost Estimator, Mechanical/Plumbing/HVAC/Fire Protection Systems
Location: Atlanta, GA – Other/Remote Considered for Ideal Candidates
Position Summary:
MSI provides cost engineering, scheduling, and risk analysis services in support of numerous state, local, and federal government construction projects. Our cost and schedule professionals deliver planning, design, and construction phase services around the world, including in remote locations. As a result of our continued growth and success we are actively seeking to add a Mechanical Systems Cost Estimator to the Project Controls & Cost Estimating Practice. Interested candidates should have a thorough understanding of construction means and methods and be able to successfully develop estimates for plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and other related systems. Direct experience in military construction with USACE, AFCEE, or NAVFAC is desired. The location of this position can be in any of the following cities: Atlanta, GA, Pensacola, FL, Jacksonville, FL, San Antonio, TX, Mobile, AL, and/or Kansas City, MO.

Essential Duties:
- Perform quantity take-offs and pricing of primarily federal construction projects
- Develop accurate and detailed cost estimates for mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and related systems within construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overheads.
- Provide high-quality estimating data in a timely and professional manner
- Develop familiarity with Work Breakdown Structure and Cost Element concepts
- Apply basic computer skills in the execution of work
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase and provide cost control measures to keep projects within budget.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from accredited college or university; engineering or quantity survey degree preferred
- 2 - 5 years’ cost estimating experience with demonstrated expertise in Mechanical (Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection, and related) systems.
- Working knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles
- Knowledge and experience in estimating software and tools (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, MII, PACES, RS Means).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Certification such as CCT, CCP or CEP is preferred
- General knowledge of construction methods and practices
- Strong individual contributor who is comfortable and effective in working with internal discipline teams and external client teams.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Due to the clients we serve, this position requires US Citizenship.
- Periodic travel will be required. Travel is expected to be as high as 30-40% at times.
