Workforce Solutions partners directly with teams looking to hire top talent. We are currently working with a family-owned manufacturing company looking for an experienced Costing Estimator to join their Madison, WI team.
What's the role?
The Cost Estimator is a key position that is responsible for estimating material, labor, and associated costs from receipt of project drawings to the final proposal for retail store fixtures and point of purchase (POP) displays. The main objectives of the role include:
- Create material takeoffs and labor estimates according to sketches or engineering specifications.
- Research and specify materials to be used on products.
- Create costing documentation.
- Interact with Design and Engineering to ensure the bill of materials is accurate and up to date.
- Review and audit BOMs to ensure they reflect the latest manufacturing practices.
- Analyze actual labor, material, and cost against costing and labor reports.
- Research and explain variances. Report this information as needed.
- Able to handle tight deadlines with ease, a self-starter and excellent communicator
- High level of proficiency using, spreadsheets, including MS Excel, and able to learn new software as needed.
- Assist with the engineering of products.
What experience and skills do I need to be successful?
- Associate degree and 1-2 years of experience or the equivalent combination.
- Must have excellent oral, written, and mathematical skills.
- Must be computer literate in the Microsoft software environment, and proficient in AutoCAD.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Experience with furniture, cabinets, retail displays, or merchandising would be a huge plus
- Experience in small business settings a plus

What will my schedule look like?
This salaried role generally works onsite during office hours Monday-Friday 8a-5p.

The company is an industry leader in designing and manufacturing quality fixtures and displays for consumer products and is proud that its products are made in America! The company is unique because most processes done in-house with a variety of materials. Processes include large format printing, silk screening, CNC machining, vacuum forming, edge banding, finishing, plastic fabrication, custom/studio work, assembly and packaging, warehouse, and shipping.
