Job Summary and Qualifications
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, under the general supervision of the occupational therapist, is responsible for the treatment of a wide variety of patients, including, but not limited to patients with: neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and other medical conditions in the areas of acute, sub-acute, rehabilitation and outpatient therapy. - The COTA carries out Occupational Therapy care programs planned by and with the supervision of the licensed Occupational Therapist while maintaining confidentiality of all patient care information to assure patients’ rights are protected
- Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and interpret data reflective of the patients’ medical status and age specific needs, in order to provide the appropriate care, as described in the department’s policies and procedures
- Will provide goal directed treatment programs, as well as related documentation and communication for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, without regard to race, color, sex, religion, or national origin
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate from an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- One to two years’ experience in hospital setting preferred. Entry-level graduates will be considered
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) upon hire
