AP seeks a Counsel – Litigation to join its growing legal department. AP’s legal team serves a dynamic business that has skyrocketed from a start-up in 2011 to a $2.7 billion company in 2024 with more than 10,000 employees across the United States and Europe. AP needs a skilled, adaptable lawyer with a keen business mind to help fuel its continued success and its pursuit of IPO readiness as part of the next chapter of its journey.

This role will sit in AP’s corporate headquarters in downtown Orlando, Florida and report to the VP & Associate General Counsel – Litigation, Claims & Employment.  

What You'll Do

Counsel – Litigation will be responsible for supporting operational partners across the country by working on litigation and pre-litigation matters. This position will also serve as a liaison between operational partners and outside counsel to help manage AP’s external partners and drive successful litigation and pre-litigation outcomes.

• Strategic litigation support and management across a range of commercial disputes (restrictive covenants, employment, errors & omissions, contract disputes, privacy-related litigation, etc.)
• Conduct evaluations, investigations, and research on litigation and pre-litigation matters
• Provide advice and counsel to operational teams on a range of issues involved with legal disputes
• Develop and execute on legal hold strategies and best practices
• Conduct/support e-discovery efforts and analysis of forensic data
• Draft a wide range of agreements, including employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, severance agreements, etc.
• Work on projects to ensure company agreements, policies and practices are tracking developments and changes in federal and state laws
• Work on cross-functional projects with other corporate teams, including finance and HR
• Investigate and respond to demand letters and subpoenas received by company
• Support data tracking and reporting to company leadership around case strategy, areas of risk and financial cost of litigation and claims
• Other duties as assigned

What You'll Need

• A humble, curious, customer service-oriented mindset
• D. from accredited law school and 3 to 7 years of litigation experience
• Developed sense of legal and business judgment and confidence providing advice and counsel in the context of complex disputes
• Strong research and analytical issues and ability to quickly get to the “heart” of matters and determine appropriate strategy and tactics to drive a positive outcome
• Ability to quickly triage matters, assess risk and determine priorities and next steps
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Desire to work in an “in office” environment as part of a dynamic team that enjoys working together and will invest in your development and career progression
• Willingness to travel on an as needed basis (10 to 15 percent)

Things that would be a plus (but not required):

• Prior in-house experience
• Specific litigation experience with restrictive covenants, and/or employment, and/or insurance issues
• Familiarity with Legal Tracker
• Familiarity with Smartsheets
