We are seeking dedicated Youth Support Workers to join our Support and Stabilization team. As a Youth Support Worker, you will provide home and community-based support, skill-building, and case management for youth involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). This role involves working one-on-one with youth to help them develop social skills, coping mechanisms, and the tools needed to navigate family challenges and transition to adulthood.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to youth in the community, focusing on skill-building, mental health coping strategies, and resiliency.
- Assist youth in setting goals for education, career, and personal development, especially those transitioning into adulthood.
- Support youth facing mental health challenges, trauma, family conflict, and educational struggles.
- Travel within Central Massachusetts to provide in-home services, attend DCF meetings, and coordinate with local agencies.
- Complete individualized needs assessments and treatment plans.
- Coordinate referrals for therapeutic services, including substance use treatment, domestic violence services, and mental health care.
- Collaborate with other service providers to ensure coordinated care and monitor progress.
- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and ongoing case management.
- Document all services and maintain accurate, timely records in the agency’s electronic health system.
Qualifications
- BA/BS/BSW degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related human service field or five years of experience working with youth.
- At least two years of experience working with youth and families preferred.
- Strong knowledge of child/youth mental health, behavior management, and family systems theory.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) and/or bi-cultural skills preferred.
