Specializing in precision machining and metal fabrication, our Sanmina Newark, California facility has 15 years experience in both precision and large format solutions for industrial, semiconductor, clean technology and oil & gas markets.  We provide comprehensive engineering and test capabilities:  from in-house and hydrostatic leak-testing of medium and large format vacuum chambers to machining of precision stainless steel mechanisms.  We have the capacity to machine components up to 3 meters.  Our metal fabrication services include grinding, vacuum welding, heat treating, plating and anodizing.  We can process many advanced materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, ferrous-nonferrous and other exotic alloys.

Job Purpose:

The Crater Packer will support warehouse operations by packing, crating and preparing items for shipping.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

• Using hand and power tools to construct, repair and discard boxes, crates, skids, pallets or platforms for shipping. 

• Following Sanmina packing instructions

• Building bracing and support to ensure safe transportation by truck, train, ship or air. 

• Using a forklift to place heavy machinery on skids or blocks, and securing it with packing materials 

• Adding shipping and identification information to crates and boxes 

• Destroying and discarding unrepairable boxes, crates, and wooden bases in a recycling dumpster. Keeping the inside and outside of the company's building clear of wooden and packing debris.

• Receiving materials and performing system transactions as required

• Ensures crates and packing materials are stored properly in the corresponding area

• Moving, counting or kitting materials, and supporting other materials handling activities.

• Supports all material control initiatives

Education and Experience:

• This position requires a minimum of 1-2 years work experience as a warehouse crater packer.

• Experience operating a forklift

• Able to read English and communicate well with other

• Able to follow crating and packing instructions

• Able to lift up to 50 pounds

• Responsible and Flexible
