Job Description: Crating and Packing Coordinator. The Crating and Packing Coordinator is responsible for inventory control of shipping containers and packing materials as well as operational tasks performed for crating, packing and preparing finished and unfinished inventory goods for shipping.
Job Purpose: The Crating and Packing Coordinator is responsible for inventory control of shipping containers and packing materials as well as operational tasks performed for crating and packing of finished and unfinished goods for shipping. The Crating and Packing Coordinator manages all crating and packing materials, including barrier bags, corrugated boxes, bubble wrap, and tape, ensuring that all materials are available, in good condition, and in the correct quantities. The Crating and Packing Coordinator also ensures that all crating and packing materials are properly stored and maintained. The Crating and Packing Coordinator coordinates with the purchasing and materials planners to ensure that all crating and packing materials are received in a timely manner and that any receipt issues are resolved quickly and efficiently
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring packing and crating instructions are followed.
Performs daily visual inspection of the condition of crates; inspect for damage, trash, water, mold or foreign material within the crate.
Responsible for inspecting, building, repairing, and discarding crates.
Responsible for ensuring that crating and packing personnel are equipped with the tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary for safe, effective, and efficient crating and packing.
Ensures that the crating and packing areas are properly tooled, organized, and clear of packing and wood debris.
Responsible for verifying crates and packing material were ordered; match to purchase order or verify with Purchasing; while also verifying quantity delivered, inspect materials received for damage, mark crates with the appropriate stock number and location, and notify plant personnel that crates ordered have been received.
Responsible for resolving receipt issues with purchasing and materials planners; works with buyers and planners to ensure crates or packing materials that were shipped incorrectly, or damaged are returned to suppliers.
Ensures crates and packing materials are placed in the appropriate physical and system locations the day they are received; new crates are assigned a physical and system location when received; and supervisor and warehouse personnel are advised of the location for entry.
Responsible for ensuring that packing material and wood debris are disposed of properly.
Prepares shipping memos for crates and packing materials; includes crates returned to suppliers, repaired and disposal of crates and crates sent out for fabrication.
Works with purchasing personnel to order crates and packing materials when needed.
Assists purchasing department with the resolution of receipt and invoice issues related to crates and packing material deliveries
Performs assigned cycle counts on the date assigned, verifies item being counted is the correct item, quantity counted is accurate, and notifies Supervisor, if an issue arises during the count.
Assists with the creation of a highly collaborative material control culture within the organization
Supports all material control initiatives.
Education and Experience:
This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years work experience as a warehouse crater and packer coordinator.
Experience with MRP or any inventory management system
Experience with Excel, and google workspace
Experience operating a forklift
Able to read English and communicate well with other
Able to follow crating and packing instructions
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
