About the role:
Samsara is seeking an experienced Creative Director to join our Brand, Creative, & Content team with a strong background in art direction, design, and video. This is a highly collaborative role working closely with, and reporting to, the Senior Director of Brand, Creative, & Content. You will guide the development and execution of all creative materials — from large-scale integrated campaigns to channel-specific executions, and will be responsible for evolving and expanding Samsara’s visual brand language, brand identity system, photography, illustration, and video disciplines. Our ideal candidate should be comfortable concepting, building strategy when necessary, and have a strong eye for detail. Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to direct and execute high-quality work are essential.
This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States and Canada. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
In this role, you will:
• Work hands-on with marketing leaders in understanding company strategic initiatives that can translate into creative initiatives and marketing materials.
• Manage, mentor, and inspire our in-house creative team which includes brand designers, digital designers, video producers & editors, and photography.
• Lead, develop, and maintain the brands visual design system across all customer touchpoints, including: marketing materials, events, print and display ads, website, social media, and other creative outputs.
• Oversee the creation and disciplined use of brand guidelines for our internal teams, vendors, contractors, and agencies.
• Enhance brand recognition and loyalty by maintaining a cohesive visual identity across all marketing materials.
• Develop compelling visual narratives that resonate with target audiences and convey Samsara’s core message.
• Lead the video team from ideation, to production, to post production to create best-in-class video content.
• Help vet and manage agencies, vendors, production groups, event producers, and creative contractors to supplement and assist the internal creative group.
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
• Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team.
Minimum requirements for the role:
• 10-15+ years of experience in tech or a creative agency plus 2+ years of previous experience in a CD or Group CD position.
• Proven experience creating marketing/advertising campaigns from developing vision and the messaging platform to overseeing production on time and budget.
• Understanding and creating integrated content across all marketing channels from digital, social media, paid media, video, mobile, but also understand offline and print.
• Ability to concept and work with others on a wide variety of project types—presentation slides, film, events, digital, print, virtual experiences, websites, long-form content, print.
• Comfortable pitching ideas to Directors and C-suite.
• Knowledge of creative design and collaboration tools including Figma, Adobe CC, Premier, and After Effects.
• Excellent communication skills and expectation setting.
• Strong attention-to-detail.
• Ability to generate creative solutions that align with business goals.
An ideal candidate also has:
• Hands-on experience working with video teams and event teams.
• Brand marketing experience.
• Experience managing agencies, working on global campaigns, building brand narratives through compelling storytelling and visual forms.
• Experience creating compelling event experiences.
