Position Summary:
The Credit Administration Manager will oversee the credit administration duties for business lending, consumer lending, residential mortgage lending, while ensuring the effective and efficient management of credit operations. This role involves managing credit policies, procedures, and processes to support the bank's lending activities with a particular emphasis on the business lending credit approval process and the quality production of credit analysis. This role will administer Business Loan Committee and serve as a key approver for business loans. The Credit Administration Manager is the primary product manager for the loan originating system, ensuring successful rollout and utilization of the LOS.
Provides leadership, direction, and guidance to direct reports and all bankers related to the approval process and credit administration requirements.
Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities: (90%)
Accountability 1: Credit Analysis and Governance.
- Responsible for the bank's commercial credit analysis activities and the preparation of Credit Approval Presentations: Train bankers, credit analyst, and commercial portfolio managers on desired content and layout, provide feedback on drafts prior to distribution to Business Loan Committee, and ensure consistency with sufficient detail in presentation that adheres to Loan Policy to facilitate a quality loan decision.
- Ensure that credit files are current and complete with required documentation.
- Oversee maintenance and distribution of various asset quality reports. Compile various reports required such as loan watch lists, documentation exceptions and delinquency summaries. Generate and distribute lists to bankers including banker portfolios and delinquency reports.
- Assist CCO in developing, implementing, and administering the credit administration policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards in accordance with the bank's risk appetite. Update assigned policies at least annually.
- Prepare agenda and administer the Business Loan Committee. Assist Directors Loan Committee in governance and oversight.
- Possess knowledge and stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes and best practices in credit administration.
Accountability 2: Approve credit.
- Approver of commercial credit, per approval authority granted in Loan Policy, for credits below Business Loan Committee, and be a voting member of Business Loan Committee.
Responsible for bank wide credit approver for Cash Management (Wire Transfer, ACH, Remote Deposit, etc.) and Consumer Banking and Mortgage loans, as assigned.
Accountability 3: Loan Process.
- Have primary responsibility for the bank's commercial loan application, approval, documentation, and loan booking process including coordinating workflows between departments.
- This includes being the primary product manager for any loan origination system (LOS) the bank may choose. This includes taking a leadership role on the implementation team, training on the chosen system, training-the-trainer to assist roll out, and working collaboratively with various departments to establish workflows to help the bank achieve maximum benefit from the LOS.
Accountability 4: Problem Loan Management
- Provides oversight of Problem Loan Management, including the commercial Watch List, and consumer and mortgage past due loans.
- Collaborates with commercial bankers on resolution plans for Watch List credits (up or out). May include direct interaction with borrowers or working with additional resources including fellow bankers and/or outside counsel/realtors to aid in collection efforts.
- Works with consumer and mortgage bankers on collections for past due loans, including direct involvement to resolve credits over 60 days past due.
- Manages the bank's Watch List and Past Dues within peer ranges.
Accountability 5: Supervision.
- Coach, develop, challenge and motivate direct reports including on career development plans.
- Improve the thoroughness and quality of credit analysts' and commercial portfolio managers' work that goes into Credit Approval Presentations. Model effective credit analysis presentations through your own work product and provide timely feedback and critique of their work.
- Ensures a succession plan is in place for key department members.
- Set goals and evaluate individual performance on a timely basis.
- Build and maintain a culture characterized by teamwork, high morale, and efficiency.
- Ensure effective bank wide communication. Regularly communicate policies, goals, and financial performance updates to staff.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: (10%)
- Participate in developing new business for the Bank and support an effective sales culture in the Bank.
- Participate in civic and community activities consistent with business development objectives and the importance of the position.
- Encourage appropriate participation by other officers and employees of BankIowa.
- Maintain good working relationship and communication with staff from all bank departments/locations. Maintain positive relationship with all BankIowa clients, potential clients and all bank contacts
- Responsible for following bank policies and procedures for compliance relative to the functions of your position.
- Employee will also be responsible for completing applicable annual compliance training as required by compliance laws, regulations and bank policy
- Comprehend and comply with all pertinent Bank Secrecy Act/OFAC/CIP policies and procedures. Complete annual training.
- Perform other tasks requested by management
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, finance, accounting, or equivalent career experience is preferred.
- 10 years' experience in direct commercial credit analyses production is preferred.
- 3 years' experience as a credit approver and in a commercial credit production management role is preferred.
- Knowledge of commercial credit underwriting, credit structuring, cash flow analysis, and setting and monitoring covenants. Additional background in loan review procedures, collections, workouts and related areas is desired.
- In-depth regulatory and compliance knowledge
- Excellent analytical skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Communication, analyzing, forecasting, prioritizing, detail orientation, and problem solving
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite software, particularly Word and Excel. Experience with one or more commercial credit Loan Origination System (LOS) software's is desired.
Team/Committee Assignments:
- Business Loan Committee - Administrator and Back Up Chair.
- Member of Retail Loan Committee
- Participate in committees and bank-wide forums as assigned.
Performance Measures:
- Effective management of the bank's loan approval process including successful roll out of a new Loan Origination System.
- Improvement in the quality of the bank's Credit Approval Presentations.
- Administration of Business Loan Committee and training meetings.
- Complete all Board and Committee Reports thoroughly and on time
- Effective staff supervision
- Complete required annual training
