About the Job
We are seeking a Credit Underwriter for the Central Region Loan Origination Department.
The Credit Underwriter is accountable to analyze and evaluate the quality of manufactured home loan applicants on the basis of credit, capacity, character, and collateral, and to use discretion within established parameters to either: grant approval, identify alternative solution to loan structure for conditional approval, or to issue declination. The role is accountable for the quality of loan production and portfolio of loans made within his/her assigned authority.
This role is accountable to communicate the credit decision to sources and respond to inquiries in a manner that; effectively informs the source of the decision, reasons for the decision, any options for re-structure, educates and reinforces to the source our desired quality of applicant and desired loan structure, and delivers service excellence to solidify Credit Human as the lender of choice for applicants meeting our criteria and reinforces service as the associated value proposition of choosing Credit Human for manufactured housing loans.

Highlights:
- Decision credit applications within established guidelines and credit authority, evaluating such factors as debt-to-income ratios, credit reporting, employment, income, collateral, payment-to-income, term, etc. to determine capability and capacity of applicant(s)
- Communicate loan decision to source
- Forward recommended loan approvals that exceed established credit authority to manager (or designee of manager) for concurrence
- Maintain professional and mutually beneficial relationships with all served by the Central region
- Provide responsible and effective communication to retail sources as needed to ensure clarity on our program details and our expectations of our retail and broker sources
- Maintain expenses at or under the budget
Experience:
Required
- 2 + years indirect lending experience as loan officer or underwriter in real estate, manufactured housing, automobile and/or consumer finance industry.
Preferred
- 2 + years of sales experience and/or training in consumer finance product sales preferred
- 4 + years indirect lending experience as loan officer or underwriter in real estate, manufactured housing, automobile and/or consumer finance industry.
Education:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or equivalent work experience
Licenses & Certifications:
Required
- Requires eligibility to be registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry
Preferred
- NMLS Registered
Skills & Knowledge:
Required
- Knowledgeable in real estate underwriting principles
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm
Salary Range: $63,167 to $68,507 Annually
Flexibility: In office; on site, not remote or hybrid
Level of Work: 2B
