Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Schedule may vary during holidays, emergencies, or weather-related events, with possible weekend and night shifts.

As a Crew Member (Asphalt) in the Transportation Department, you’ll be responsible for essential tasks that keep our streets safe and accessible year-round. About the Role:
As a Crew Member (Asphalt), you’ll perform general maintenance on the City’s streets and infrastructure. Your day-to-day responsibilities include operating single and tandem axle dump trucks, laying asphalt, pouring concrete, and maintaining street shoulders and ditches. This role requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, work in all weather conditions, and handle physically demanding tasks such as shoveling and raking asphalt.
In addition, you will contribute to Greensboro’s snow and ice removal program and loose leaf collection efforts. You’ll need to be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work overtime during emergencies, including weekends, nights, and holidays. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must have reliable means of contact such as home or cellular telephone to remain in this position.
