We invite you to apply to join our team as a full-time Crew Supervisor within the Public Works Department -Utility Cut Division. This position schedules, directs, and is responsible for a work crew that functions to support services in Public Works in regards to operations around Utility installation, repair, and maintenance.
What you'll be doing:
- Directs, supervises and participates with assigned labor crews in performance of a variety of maintenance and/or construction work. Inspects work to ensure completion in accordance with established specifications, standards and deadlines.
- Administers or makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraising and disciplining, etc. Submits records and reports as required by City management.
- Monitors and tracks subordinate work time, including overtime; prepares overtime requests as required. Works overtime in order to complete an ongoing project or in case of emergency.
- Assigns crew members to various work tasks; trains work crewmembers, as necessary.
- Monitors materials used on work sites, including costs, quantity and surcharges.
- Operates and trains crew to operate various heavy and light equipment, hand tools and other necessary equipment.
- Monitors project and task completion.
- Ensures proper allocation of equipment, tools, supplies and materials to complete assigned work; oversees and participates in operation and minor maintenance/ repair of tools and equipment.
- Prepares and maintains records of daily work crew activities; meets with work crew to advise of project requirements and status.
- Confers with City residents to receive and respond to work requests, inquiries, complaints and scheduling of a facility. Advises subordinates and/or superiors of residents' concerns.
- Prepares routine records, schedules, estimates and expenditure reports utilizing computer-based programs and project management packages.
- Confers with representatives of private maintenance and/or construction crews. Advises superiors and/or subordinates of activities and/or concerns of private utility and construction crews.
- Acts as a working supervisor assisting crews with various tasks and assignments.
- Monitors work zone safety and provides safety information and training.
$27.30 per hour
13 paid holidays, 12 paid sick days, and 10 paid vacation days

This position requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency, with over three (3) years of related experience, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.Licensing and Certifications:
