OSEC LEGAL / CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS
This position is in the Criminal Investigations Section within the Legal Division of the Office of the Secretary. This position is posted statewide. The domicile will be established upon selection.
This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, job appointment (a temporary appointment not to exceed four years), or a promotion of permanent classified employees. If the position is filled as a job appointment, it could be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience in law enforcement, investigatory work or military intelligence work, two years of which must have been investigatory work while being employed as a commissioned law enforcement officer.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
College training which included six semester hours per year in law enforcement or criminal justice will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required general experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
A baccalaureate degree or associate degree in law enforcement or criminal justice will substitute for the two years of required general experience only.
There is no substitution for the two years of required experience in investigation work while being employed as a commissioned law enforcement officer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be eighteen years old at time of application.
An applicant will be disqualified if he or she has been convicted of a felony or if there are any indictments or bills of information pending against him or her in which felony charges are included; or if he or she has been convicted within the past three years of hit and run or driving while intoxicated.
A drug screen will be administered prior to employment.
May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.
Required to attend and pass a Police Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification school.
Some P.O.S.T. certification schools require the passing of a physical examination.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Differs from the Criminal Investigator 1 and 2 by the presence of complex performance duties at the advanced level.

Prepares necessary reports on investigations.
Makes physical arrests and transports fugitives.
