M-F. No holidays. Will be scheduled to work every 10th weekend.
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. The nursing assistant assists in patient care throughout all nursing areas. Duties include assisting patients with their ADL’s, transporting patients in various types of equipment and ambulation, documentation of care and treatments done and observes patients for safety and condition change and reports to appropriate staff.

Responsibilities:Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
Delivery of Care:
- Assists patients with ADL’s according to hospital procedures, reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse in charge of patient.
- Assists with access, transport and storage of medications, but does not administer medications.
- Follows all established infection control policies and recognizes role in providing safety to the patient.
- Performs all duties included with job competencies.
- Documents vital signs, weights, activity, intake and outputs, and ADL care given to patient in computer.
- Assists with restocking of rooms and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Assists with ambulation of patients and uses assist devices as appropriate to protect patient and staff member.
- Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
- Follows compliance requirements and reports any observation of fraud, waste or abuse to their immediate supervisor or Compliance Officer.
Communication & Clerical
- Communicates utilizing the ICARE/FOCUS Standards in all aspects of care and interaction with others.
- Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers. Verbal communication is clear and concise, and written communication is legible and done using approved abbreviations.
- Uses Patient/Family Centered approach of care of patient/family.
- Orders needed office supplies, or other supplies as needed for the areas.
- Organizes nurses’ station to keep neat and well organized.
- Assists with data collection.
Basic UPH Performance Criteria

- Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:
