Elementary Cross-Campus SpEd Generalist Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Responsible for supervision and follow through of the special education process from screening through assessment, identification, IEP development, and assisting in providing appropriate identification and placement of students with disabilities.
- Implement all aspects the Individuals with Disabilities Act, (IDEA) in accordance with district, state, and federal policies and procedures
- Design and deliver instruction in alignment with IEP goals
- Supervise and coordinate special education programs, policies and diagnostic procedures in response to individual student needs
- Organize and ensure completion of all evaluation reports and IEPs
- Complete reviews of all special education IEP documents, ensuring compliance with District procedures, state, and federal laws
- Initiate screening of transfer and new referral records and contact previous school district to obtain necessary information on new students
- Perform and monitor evaluation and timelines to ensure appropriate student placement and programming
- Work with principals, teachers, and other team members to facilitate optimal inclusion of all students into regular classes as appropriate
- Regularly monitor and record student progress toward IEP goals
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress
- Maintain records about IEP service delivery
APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:
- desire to work in an elementary Montessori environment
- experience working in a K-6th grade public school setting
- ability to maintain confidentiality and whole-child views of children and families served
- desire to work using a flexible andmulti-disciplinaryteam approach
- transportation to travel between both campuses of Compass Montessori
- an active initial or professional K-12 special education license
- knowledge of the Special Education process and laws
- excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, and time management skills
- experience using assessment protocols, including the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement (KTEA) and/or Woodcock-Johnson IV (WJ-IV)
- experience maintaining standardization of assessment process, and follow all administration guidelines of special education assessments
- familiarity with, and system for, making and recording observations of student behavior, demeanor, and response style during testing
- skills for templates and assessment reporting tools to capture student results and describe findings relative to special education eligibility criteria
PAY:$37,000-$73,000,based upon experience and credentials
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Teacher work calendar. Full-time with benefits as defined in the Jeffco-charter agreement
