Description
Responsible for patient care including performing CT scans according to ACR and State regulations and protocols and communicating with providers, nurses, and staff to ensure continuity of care. This person is responsible for upholding all of their licensing requirements and performing within their scope of practice.
- Utilizing CT scanner and X-ray equipment to provide quality images for diagnosis while following all practices of radiation safety.
- Operating CT equipment including the power injector by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain room and CT scanner according to departmental and licensing standards.
- Completing a comprehensive assessment on patients including patient screening and contraindications through written and oral communication. This includes, but is not limited to renal function, pregnancy status, contrast allergies and previous conditions that would limit or prevent the study.
- Daily and weekly quality assurance phantom studies to for compliance with ACR.
- Providing all documents and imaging for renewal of ACR accreditation every 3 years. Actively assist in meeting all department licensing standards with ADH.
- Perform venipuncture and insertion of peripheral IV's.
- Compliance with HIPAA.
- Coordinating a busy patient flow while accommodating add-on patient studies throughout the day.
- Practice teamwork, service and respect for coworkers and patients.
- Ordering supplies and proper management of resources.
- Assisting in other departments as needed i.e., x-ray and/or fluoroscopy studies.
- Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program and ARRT registered in Radiology. CT registry preferred. BLS required.
