About the Job
CT Scan Tech / Computer Tomography Technologist / CT Technologist
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate CT Tech (also known as Computer Tomography Technologist or CT Technologist) to join our dynamic radiology team. As a CT Technologist, you will operate CT scanners (computerized tomography) to produce detailed, high-resolution images of the body’s internal structures. These images play a critical role in diagnosing and guiding the treatment of a wide range of medical conditions.
In this role, you will use state-of-the-art computer tomography equipment to provide clear, accurate diagnostic imaging while ensuring the highest level of patient care. You will work closely with radiologists and physicians, providing essential imaging services in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CT scanners (computer tomography equipment) to capture detailed cross-sectional images of patients' bodies, focusing on areas such as the head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and extremities.
- Position patients accurately and safely for imaging, ensuring minimal discomfort and optimal image quality.
- Follow established protocols and procedures for each patient’s specific needs, adjusting scan settings as required to achieve the best diagnostic images.
Patient Interaction and Preparation:
- Greet and prepare patients for CT exams, explaining procedures and answering questions to reduce anxiety and ensure understanding.
- Administer intravenous contrast agents (when needed) for enhanced imaging, monitoring patient responses and following safety protocols to prevent complications.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during the procedure by providing appropriate positioning and adjusting the environment as needed.
Ensure Image Quality and Safety:
- Maintain a strong focus on image quality while adhering to radiation safety guidelines, optimizing scans to ensure diagnostic accuracy while minimizing exposure.
- Regularly evaluate images for clarity, sharpness, and accuracy, making real-time adjustments when necessary to avoid repeat scans.
Collaboration with Radiologists and Physicians:
- Work closely with radiologists and medical staff to ensure imaging meets diagnostic requirements.
- Communicate effectively to discuss imaging results, including identifying any issues that may require re-imaging or additional scans.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Regularly inspect and maintain CT imaging equipment, ensuring that it is properly cleaned, calibrated, and functioning to provide high-quality images.
- Troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions and collaborate with the technical team to resolve issues promptly.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all imaging procedures, including patient information, imaging findings, contrast usage, and any pertinent observations.
- Ensure all documentation complies with hospital and regulatory standards, including HIPAA guidelines.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
- Stay up to date with the latest advances in computer tomography technology and imaging techniques.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and maintain certifications.
Certification:
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiography is required.
- ARRT certification in CT (ARRT-CT) is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe after hire.
Licensure:
- Valid state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Previous experience as a CT Tech or Radiologic Technologist, with hands-on experience in computer tomography preferred.
- Familiarity with advanced CT imaging technologies (such as 3D imaging, cardiac CT, or contrast studies) is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in operating CT scanning equipment and imaging software.
- Knowledge of CT imaging protocols and patient positioning for optimal image acquisition.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to detect issues with images or equipment to ensure high-quality diagnostic results.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a compassionate approach toward patient care.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, radiologists, and medical teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to assist with patient positioning and transfer when needed, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, or reach when positioning patients or operating equipment.
What We Offer:
- A competitive salary package, health benefits, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Career Development Opportunities:
- Continuing education support and opportunities for professional growth in the field of radiologic technology.
Access to Advanced Technology:
- Work with cutting-edge CT technology, including high-resolution scanners and specialized imaging software.
