Shift: 3 positions open (See Below)
Nights: 7pm (36 hr weeks, 12 hr shifts)
Evenings: 12pm (40 hr weeks, 10 hr shifts)
Days: 8am (40 hr weeks, 10 hr shifts)
BASIC FUNCTION:
The essential task of a CT Technologist is operating computed tomography equipment and accessories. Able to perform tube warm-ups and calibrations daily. CT Technologists apply principles of radiation protection during exams to minimize unnecessary exposure. Perform all CT examinations, CT biopsy’s, 3D renderings and reformations, etc. A vast knowledge and understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, vascular anatomy and abnormal pathology is essential.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Education program
•Current NYS license in Radiologic Technology required, with injection certification.
•ARRT Certification required, Computed Tomography preferred at hire or obtained within 24 months of hire.
•2 or more years of experience as CT Technologist is preferred.
•Current Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
•Perform all CT exams under the direction of a Radiologist.
•Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude.
•Ability to assess lab values that pertain to exam.
•Operates specialized imaging equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images, as directed by physicians.
•Performs CT scan studies and Special Procedures of anatomical areas as ordered/directed, according to established standards and procedures.
•Operate all radiographic imaging equipment associated with Special Procedures, Computed Tomography, including but not limited to monitors, injectors, scanners.
•Prepare IV Contrast Power injectors.
•Maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
•On-call and holiday rotation assignments required as assigned
•Administers Contrast Media as required.
•Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, positioning and imaging techniques.
•Properly and accurately screen patients for CT (Lab work to identify appropriate lab values, identify allergy contraindications, and confirming diagnosis and patient complaint match)
•Track, scan, verify studies and complete all required paperwork associated with such.
•Monitor PACS for Problem Studies and Call Reports as measure of default when dedicated person unable.
•Document on requisition appropriate needed information, obtain and verifies patients’ clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the licensed practitioner.
•Prepares patients for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
•Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters assuring proper identification is evident.
•Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment and accessories as directed. Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
•Prepare solutions for patients to drink. Barium, and other contrast agents.
•Utilize shielding as necessary for patient and staff.
•Rotate shifts and campus as departmental needs require.
•Attention to detail.
•Adheres to the policies and procedures outlined in the Exposure Control Manual regarding; universal precautions, bloodborne pathogen exposure, disposal of needles, syringes, and sharps, clean up procedures for blood and body fluid spills, storage, handling and disposal of medical waste.
•The staff member demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational and safety related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training and/or experience.
•Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to; mandatory education, annual health assessment, licensure verification, DOH and The Joint Commission
