Job Overview:
- The Radiologic Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients’ service on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/area/department’s policies and procedures
- Must provide radiographic examination within department and other areas of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation. Must exercise professional judgement in performance of procedures applying principles of radiation protection.
- Maintains patient records and files.
- Assumes responsibility for departmental quality assurance program.
- Pursues continuing education.
- Transfers patient to and from radiology.
- In the absence of a supervisor, can assume responsibility for the department.
- Rotates shifts as required.
- Performs ancillary duties as requested by supervisor.
- Follows policies and procedures as set up by SEARHC Administration.
- Assists in general hygiene of department and self.
- Should be able to work well in situations of stress.
- Must be willing and able to take call and report to work within 30 minutes.
- Must maintain competency in licensed modality.
- Able and willing to perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist with invasive procedures and knowledge of these procedures.
- Competent in sterile technique.
- Competent in OR procedures and C-Arm operation.
- Alaska fluoroscopy certified or willing to obtain within 90 days.
- Responsible for care of equipment in this area.
- Responsible for record maintenance.
- Assist with invasive procedures and knowledge of these procedures.
- Active part in the preparation of procedure in this area.
- Consult with referring physicians.
- Able to perform venipuncture or willing to be trained within first 90 days.
- Follow standard precautions procedure.
- Alter routine protocols to provide quality care to pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
- Change contrast levels per age group.
- Set up and run automatic injector.
- Familiar with contraindications of contract.
- Competent in tele-radiology transmission.
- Competent in sterile technique.
- Actively assists in supply inventory and ordering.
- Daily/Weekly QC
- Current ARRT in Radiography
- Current ARRT in Computed Tomography
- 2 years' experience Radiography
- 1 year experience CT
- Toshiba/Canon CT experience
- Cerner experience preferred
- Fuji PACS experience preferred
